UNIT GROUP 2336: Mining Engineer

Mining Engineers are responsible for planning and directing the engineering elements of identifying and extracting minerals, petroleum, and natural gas from the surface.

 

Indicative Skill and Expertise Level

Talking About Australia and New Zealand, the majority of professions in this unit category need a level of expertise equivalent to a bachelor's degree or above. Relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). Registration or licensing will probably be required.

 

Tasks and responsibilities involve:

  • Perform preliminary surveys of mineral, petroleum, and natural gas reserves with prospectors, geologists, geophysicists, and other mineral researchers, including engineers to evaluate the resources available, the viability of collecting the reserves, and the design and implementation of the extraction process.

  • Plan and coordinate labor and equipment used by efficient objectives, legislation, safety requirements, and environmental circumstances.
  • Plan and perform research, as well as provide engineering guidance on petroleum and natural gas exploration, localization, and extraction activities.
